The Jonah-Project (2015)

The Biblical story of Jonah appeals to our imagination, because of its wonderful symbolism and clear message. Drawing about Jonah was a search for connections between the main symbols in the book: the ship, the storm at sea, Jonah in the fish, the city and the leafy plant. Together they make up the story.

Also Walt Whitman loved the sea, as a boy he was often wandering over the leaved beaches of Coney Island, where he according to the stories even talked to the waves and recited work of great poets to them.

That provided the impetus for a new series of work, as a continuation of the Hardibo project and inspired by 'Meeresstille', Goethe’s poem, which I still remembered from the overture by Mendelssohn.
